Public Defender furlough days set

In order to avoid layoffs, the state Public Defender's office is forcing employees to take some unpaid furlough days. State Public Defender Adam Gregg says the first day off for employees will be April 14th. Four more furlough days will happen--two in May and two in June. The office experienced a cut of more than $450,000 as part of a massive budget reduction made by lawmakers and Gov. Branstad earlier this year.
