An online assignment regarding the 9/11 terrorist attacks is creating a controversy for Iowa State University. Lecturer James Strohman assigned an essay where students have to write about the September 11th 2001 attacks, but through the perspective of the terrorists. The story has garnered national attention after being discovered by a website called The College Fix. The site got a copy of the assignment that reads in part, "how might Al-Qaeda or a non-western historian describe what happened?" An Iowa State official defended the assignment, saying there are issues surrounding the attacks that need to be studied.
