Senate passes minimum wage bill

Thousands of Iowa workers would lose a pay increase if Gov. Branstad signs a Senate-passed bill. Lawmakers voted 29-21 Tuesday to pass the bill keeping Iowa's minimum wage at $7.25 an hour. Linn, Johnson, Polk, and Wapello counties have already passed minimum wage hikes, but those would be declared null and void if Branstad signs the measure. The bill also doesn't allow an ordinance like a plastic bag ban to be passed by cities or counties.
