Council to consider S. Duff Ave. traffic improvements

The Ames City Council is ready to take up an issue that's been delayed repeatedly since the end of 2016. Mayor Ann Campbell says the council will consider safety improvements on S. Duff Ave. that include a new traffic signal and a raised median. She says details appear to have been worked out between the Iowa Department of Transportation and the other entities paying for the work--the City of Ames, Walmart and Hunziker Corporation. Campbell says the project's contractor, Con-struct of Ames, has been very patient while waiting for funding to be approved months after being awarded the bid. The company will be paid more than $1.1 million to do the work. The city wants the project completed by October.
