State senator calls out DHS

An Iowa state senator says the director of the Department of Human Services lied about his availability to attend a meeting Monday to discuss staffing levels and the lack of oversight.  Des Moines Democrat Matt McCoy is looking into the death of Natalie Finn, 16, of West Des Moines as well as other abuse cases.  He says there was "incompetence and failure" at the DHS which contributed to Finn's death.  Gov. Branstad says McCoy is politicizing the issue.  In response McCoy tweeted "Governor, if government oversight committee members can't ask for answers to legitimate questions, what's the point of a committee?"  DHS was a no-show at Monday's oversight hearing.
