State board to consider Ames annexation

After delaying action for a month, the Iowa's City Development Board is ready to hold a public hearing on the proposed eastern annexation by the City of Ames. When the five-member board meets Wednesday in Des Moines, it'll discuss plans by Ames to annex more than 1,300 acres east of Interstate 35 between Ames and Nevada. The plan is to use the land for future industrial sites. Opponents of the annexation say there's no guarantee the city will get a return on it's $6 million investment for installing infrastructure in the area.
