U. of Iowa restores scholorships

University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld says the school will reinstate several scholarships that were going to be eliminated this year.  The university faced lawsuits and criticism for the decision to discontinue scholarships.  The scholarships for the fall of 2017 will be awarded for current and new students, but will not be available for new students starting in 2018.  The scholarships are renewed each year and rely on support from the state.  The state budget for UI was cut by over $8 million this year and Harreld looked at the elimination of scholarships as one way to absorb the loss.
