Photo ID bill advances

Iowans are one step closer to having to show a photo ID when they go to the polls. A House committee late Tuesday night sent the measure to the house floor that's being spearheaded by Secretary of State Paul Pate. The bill that survived a funnel deadline with just days to spare calls for voters to show either a driver's license, military ID, or passport in order to vote. A free ID would be issued to any voter who doesn't currently have one.
