Some Iowa Senate Republicans want to bring back the death penalty, but in a very limited fashion. Senators Jerry Behn of Boone and Rick Bertrand of Sioux City are proposing to bring back capital punishment as it relates to some crimes against minors. One bill covers kidnapping, raping, and murdering a minor and the other bill covers the minor being sexually abused and murdered. Iowa hasn't executed anyone in nearly 54 years as the death penalty was abolished in 1965.
